People frequently ask me about things I use or recommend. Finally, I’m taking the time to put the links out there for everyone to use. The list will grow as time goes on and I think of things that everyone can use. Enjoy!

The Eat-Clean Diet: Fast Fat-Loss that lasts Forever! - this book is by Figure competitor Tosca Reno who is a regular writer for Oxygen Magazine. If you ever wanted to know what clean is about, what it does for you, and how to do it then this is the book for you. It’s an easy read and beautifully done. I’ve given my copy to friends and everyone has loved it.
Sennheiser MX75 Twist-To-Fit In-Ear Stereo Sport Headphones - there is nothing more annoying than trying to run or do pop squat after pop squat and your earbuds are falling out left and right! My husband bought me these for Christmas and they are a lifesaver! They NEVER fall out because they twist into your ear and stay. The buds have interchangeable pieces to ensure a snug fit for any size ear. The only drawback is that the things are neon green. Blah! But, I’m not at a fashion show when I’m working out so I have gotten over that.
SPRI ES501R Xertube Resistance Band with Door Attachment and Exercise Charts (Red, Medium) – I think everyone should have a set of light, medium, and/or heavy resistance bands in their home gym. I use mine for back and shoulder work when I can’t get to the gym. They are excellent for travel, too, because they are lightweight and allow you to get in a good workout quite easily. This particular set comes with a door attachment that gives you even more flexibility when using it.
Oxygen – I LIVE this magazine! It has the best articles on women’s weight lifting. Each month they have great routines and moves you can try, the advice is solid, and it gives you a peak into the world of fitness and figure competition. Oh, and the other thing I like is the models are not skinny-minnies. They are beautifully defined and exuding a healthy lifestyle. Love it, love it, love it!
Runner’s World – And here’s the only other magazine I read on a regular basis, or at least bother to pay a subscription to…Runner’s World. It’s the authority on running information. If you are new or old to the sport it is a wonderful treat to have arrive on your doorstep each month. Even though I have temporarily hung up my running shoes (hip injury), each month I pour over the articles and pine for the day I can get back out there. It won’t be long!
Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity – This book has helped me and my husband be more productive in our lives. It is full of great information and tips on how to organize your work life and projects.
Polar F6 HR MonitorPolar F6 Heartrate Monitor – This is a basic HRM that will allow you to track your cals burned, workout in your appropiate ranges and fit a woman’s wrist better than others.
Magic BulletThe Magic Bullet allows you to make protein shakes quickly and with virtually no clean up. I love mind. You can do all sorts of things with it, but I primarily just do my shakes. You an also grind coffee, Flaxseeds, and other items.
The Metabolism AdvantageMetabolism Advantage – excellent read along with the Precision Nutrition book you can order online. You can do this along with WW for the accountablity and the portion controls. The beauty of this book it that teaches you in small ways to change your lifestyle.

What do you think about a trainer starting with a body comp analysis
using an infrared camera taken at the bicep. Reading Fat, Muscle, Hydration, Cals. Is this really effective? I am approx. 60 pounds over weight, just curious on your thoughts.

I haven’t heard of this so I’m not sure how effective it is. If they include it in your package fine. If you have to pay extra I don’t know. Calipers work, they are cheap, and the best test of how much progress you are making is a mirror, measuring tape, and how you feel. That’s just my opinion. Stats and stuff are interesting but we spend too much time on numbers and not enough time just doing the basics.
