Losing the Vegas Weight

Filed under: Leg Workout, Scale, Vacation — phitnphat @ 2:42 pm

I’m coming clean. My name is Corinne and I gained 7 pounds while in Vegas (waits for gasps in the audience to die down). Why have I waited this long to tell everyone of my surge in weight? Because I didn’t want to let you down.

Many of you read my blog and especially my vacation blogs to find out how to deal with travelling. I knew if the first thing I did was bellyache that I gained seven pounds in Vegas half of you would call the travel agent right then and cancel your summer vacation. That might be a little over the top, but there are a few of you who laughed thinking you would.

Seriously, this article is yet again talking about having a healthy relationship with the scale. I knew coming home it wouldn’t be good and here’s why:

1. I drank on this trip and I never drink. Alcohol and not enough water is bad for the body.

2. I ate salty foods on this trip. Can we say too much sodium?

3. TOM. Enough said. There’s three of the pounds easy.

4. An airplane ride. I always bloat up after being on an airplane.

5. Sheer volume of food. I allowed myself to indulge with food the last day since we aren’t going back for a few months. I know, poor Corinne isn’t going to Vegas for three whole months…boohoo.

All of that equaled a total of seven glorious pounds on the scale. I said, “Oh well, let’s get busy and back to clean eating.” I didn’t let it bother me and I made the best of it with a lot of exercise and healthy choices.

Today is one week from that weigh in and I am proud to say all seven pounds are gone. Bye-bye water, bye-bye bloat, and bye-bye one or two pounds of fat named Lemon Drop Shots. I didn’t have to starve and I didn’t have to kill myself. I just went back to my “lifestyle.”

I was very busy with Phit-N-Phat this weekend so I didn’t blog or journal food. Eating went fine and I even had a weekly cheat at IHOP with the family last night. I had an egg white omelette, no cheese, with spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, and onions. I splurged on the harvest nut pancakes with sugar free syrup. It was delicious.

Saturday I ran five miles. Yes, I ran and it felt good. Sunday I started with a five mile walk and then did legs in the afternoon with husband.

Legs

Superset One: 3 sets
Leg press – feet wide
Alternating Lunges

Superset Two: 3 sets
Leg Press – feet shoulder width
Jump Squats

Superset Three: 3 sets
Leg Press – feet together
Lunge Pumps

Superset Four: 3 sets
Ham curls
Deadlifts

Superset Five: 3 sets
Butt Blaster
Pop Squats
Crunches

  1. It seems that one “negative” of clean eating is that when you eat simple carbs your body is like a sponge with water weight. It is a great example that you recognized that it wasn’t “fat” and didn’t freak, you just got back to business as usual. THAT’s the way to have a vacation in my mind. Have some fun, but get back to work when you get home. Great example for all of us!!

  2. Great job Corinne. I hope some day I can get to that point too. I freaked out when I gained .4 and it was TOM and I knew darn well that it was not fat. It is such a mental game and if we don’t recognize it for what it is, before you know it, we will have gained 7 lbs and it would be all fat!

  3. Corinne, I would’ve freaked out pre P-N-P (well I must say I might’ve freaked out last week had I been in your shoes). Great example to show what the crummy foods can do to us, and how the clean eating helps!! Thank you for posting this and I don’t think you could ever let me down.

  4. Rock on girl!! It’s amazing how our bodies respond to the fuel they are given. Cr*p=Fat, Clean=Lean!!!

  5. Corinne, great post! Its nice to know that you too are “human” and have gains :) Its also a WONDERFUL example on how the most important thing is getting right back on track – you vacationed and enjoyed – that’s what life is about, right?

  6. What a great post!
Totally gives us hope. If YOU can gain 7 on vacation, not freak out go back to “normal” and be A-ok, then we can too.
